The Noida Greater Noida Administration has intensified its efforts to curb illegal land activities, targeting unauthorized developments in the floodplains of the Hindon and Yamuna rivers. In a significant move, the administration reclaimed 72 Bheega of land worth over ₹150 crore in the Sikanderpur village area. The reclaimed land had been illegally occupied by mafias who were developing unauthorized farmhouses. This operation is part of the administration’s ongoing campaign to prevent unlawful land usage and safeguard valuable real estate.
A Targeted Operation Against Land Mafias
The operation, conducted with the help of a police force, revealed extensive illegal activities. The mafias had been engaged in constructing unauthorized farmhouses and infrastructure, including a 30-meter-wide and 50-meter-long road, as well as fencing and office structures. Bulldozers were deployed to demolish these illegal constructions, and the road was dug up to prevent further access to the area. The administration’s swift action sends a strong message to those attempting to exploit the region’s high demand for farmhouses, particularly in the floodplains.
Challenges Faced During the Operation
The operation was not without resistance. Upon learning of the impending crackdown, the land mafias gathered a crowd, attempting to claim ownership of the land. However, the Noida Greater Noida Administration asserted that the land had been sealed and was not open for any form of permanent development. Officials emphasized that even private lands in flood-prone areas cannot be used for permanent structures without proper permissions, as these regions are deemed ecologically sensitive and unsuitable for such developments.
A Step Towards Sustainable Development
The reclaimed 72 Bheega of land is a significant victory in the administration’s efforts to address illegal land encroachments. This initiative also highlights the growing importance of ensuring planned and sustainable urban development in the Noida Greater Noida region. By taking decisive action against such violations, the administration aims to protect valuable resources and maintain the region’s development trajectory while deterring similar illegal activities in the future.
This operation serves as a wake-up call to potential buyers and landowners, urging them to verify land titles and permissions before making any real estate investments. It also reinforces the need for vigilance and proactive measures to ensure that the development in the region adheres to legal and environmental guidelines.
